Peter Stuhr House As It Was
1880
Leo Stuhr once said that this was one of the best documented houses in Hall county. These images help to tell the story of its past.
There are two very similar images in this gallery showing the house around 1880. It is believed that these images were taken shortly after the two cabins were joined together.
1900
The house as it was around the the turn of the 20th century. At this time, this would have been the west side of the house. There is a very long porch along the side back and the door to the cellar is seen between the trees under the two front windows. There is an enclosed area on the back porch, and a woman pumping water at the rear of the home on the left.
1920s
The house in the 1920s. The back porch has been minimized, one of the front chimney's removed, the cover over the front porch was removed, the cellar entry relocated near the back porch, the shutters removed and the house was painted white.
1932
The new open city sewer ditch can be seen in front of the house as it sits on blocks awaiting to be moved to its new location.
After 1932
The house in its new location. The road in front of it would become Stuhr Road, and the house now faces the west. It was sometime after the house was relocated that the small addition was added, creating a bathroom, a south entry and a new access to the cellar.
